Examples:

1) After getting all C’s his freshman year, Dave buckled down and got straight A’s the next semester.
大卫上学期每门课都得C, 这学期他开始认真了,最终得了全A.

2) We need to buckle down and get started.  We have to finish this by the end of the month.
我们需要认真对待,赶紧着手干活。我们得在月底赶完。
